The Gwyneth Paltrow trial started in 2016 when Gwyneth Paltrow and Terry Sanderson collided on a beginner ski run at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.
In 2019, Sanderson sued Paltrow for negligence and sought over $300,000 in damages for injuries he sustained from the collision. Paltrow decided to not file out of court and filed a $1 countersuit, including attorney fees. Paltrow decided to not settle out of court and only countersuit for a symbolic $1 because she felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised her integrity.
Both Paltrow and Sanderson claimed the other was at fault for the ski crash. Sanderson told his side of the story, claiming that the collision was Paltrow’s fault while Paltrow claimed the collision was Sanderson’s fault. Both parties brought forth expert witnesses. After the trial was over, the jury returned with a unanimous decision. The jury found Sanderson 100% at fault for the collision on the ski run that day. Paltrow was awarded the $1 countersuit, but not the legal costs.
